Chloramphenicol Eye/Ear Drops 0.5% 10ml
~ Composition of Chloramphenicol Eye/Ear Drops
Each ml contains:
Chloramphenicol BP 0.5% w/v
Phenylmercuric Nitrate Bp 0.002% w/v
(as preservative)
~ Indications of Eye/Ear Drops 0.5% 10ml:
1. Bacterial conjun ctivitis(due to pneumpcocci, staphylococci, streptococci, gonococci, Morax bacillus and koch-weeks bacillus etc). Chloramphenicol does not have any action on the agent responsible for conjun ctivitis or viral keratoconjun civitis, but combats the bacterial over infection, sometimes very pronounced in these cases, anc thus distances grave complications.
2. Bacterial Keratitis. In the case of intracomeal abcesses or keratitis rosacea one can combine a systemic treatment to the local therapy.
~ Administration and posology of Eye/Ear Drops 0.5% 10ml
Two drops two to three times daily. Its prolonged action allows the prevention of night applications. The healthy eye will be treated prophylactically in the same manner as the sick eye.
